BETA test for 29bit init protocol

Post by admin » Sun Jul 21, 2024 3:16 pm

Hello guys
I've been waiting for months hoping to find a new TDI engine with the 29bit init protocol to expand the supported engine list, but I've been unlucky.

Now to unlock this stuck situation, I ask for your help.

In the new release 3.30.12 that I'm going to publish in days, you'll find the new engine protocol 97 that forces the 29bit protocol. At the moment I don't have a list of engines who use this protocol, but if you own a new VAG car, model year 2021 or newer, and VAG DPF doesn't work with it with any engine group, it probably has the 29bit init protocol. In this case, if you already own a good ELM327 adapter, you can try the new engine group 97 and give me a feedback.

Currently I'm completely blind, I added what I think is necessary to establish the communication, but I'm not able to test anything.
Any kind of feedback can be useful for me.

If you want to support this beta test, please answer this topic adding your engine data and the result of the test.
Thank you very much

Hi. I have a Skoda Octavia IV, year 2021, DTTA engine. I am connecting using carista. At the moment I cannot connect the VAG DPF to the car. There was no problem with the Octavia III, I was satisfied. I can help with the beta version.

Thanks, keep checking this topic for instructions when the new release will be published.

It will take about one week to close the pre-launch checks.

I'm implementing the beta profile in both apps, but only the full app has the log file feature to save at least a short result of the connection.
In the free app I'm evaluating if it's the case to add a popup with the same information just to give you, and then to me, a feedback of what happens.

Hello colleagues
I have a 2022 Octavia with a DTUA engine, unfortunately setting the application to engine group 18 as my colleagues suggested did not work, V-gate cannot read the DPF settings
I hope that the release of version 3.30.12 will help with connection, when can we expect it to be published on Google Play?
unless you can download version 3.30.12 from a source other than GooglePlay

Wait just few days, I'm in the pre-launch checks.
There are other new features and corrections that I need to test.

Probably the free app will be published some days after the full app.

New release 3.31.12 published: you'll find the new group 97 that should work like all others, I hope.
Selecting it, the log file will contain more details about the initialization commands that can be useful for me to understand what happens in case of communication failure.

Let me know how it works.

In some days I'm publishing also the LITE app with a different logging method, probably a popup message, due to the fact that the LITE app can't save a log file.

Hello,

I have Skoda Kodiaq II (2024) with 2.0 TDI 142kW engine, code: DXNB

Today I tried the new beta 97 option/29bit protocol and the communication didn't work. For some reason there was no log saved even if it's allowed and configured accordingly, perhaps something to do with Android 14 and the root folder?

In any case, if it's of any use I'm adding screenshot with the error and pasting the text below as well:

---
Communication error

Unable to communicate with engine ECU even with OBD2 protocol.

Possible causes:
- Car ignition off
- ELM327 faulty or bad quality
- Car not OBD2 compliant

If I can help any further don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for the first feedback, I'm analyzing it.

The log file is written only if there is communication and reading of parameters, it's reason why I added the initialization log in the error message. It works as expected.

New release published right now with more details in the 29bit log.

Also the FREE app has been updated adding the same logging text in the popup error message.

I did another test with new version of the app and same car/engine - Skoda Kodiaq II (2024) with 2.0 TDI 142kW engine code: DXNB - and attaching screenshot and text of the results (text is from OCR, I corrected whatever error I was able to spot but there might be some mistake left):

Last Saturday I tried to connect to the DPF in my car Skoda Octavia 2022, DTUA engine
unfortunately, changing the settings from "read form ECU" to group 18 or 97 did not allow connection, program version 3.34.12

This message was displayed on the phone screen

Did you try to scroll the error message or is it only that? It should contain some more lines.

I didn't try to scroll, there should be close at the end of my entry
Unfortunately, the forum does not accept photos from Google's disk and I do not have any other server to publish photos (this is a screen scan taken by S23 and copied)
the next time I contact the car, I will try to check if there are any other lines in the error code.
