Audi a6c6 CAHA sudden regeneration

Post by lemingo24 » Sun Sep 01, 2024 6:58 pm

Hi All
Any suggestions. Audi a6c6 2.0tdi 170Hp. Engine code CAHA
My regeneration used to start after about 500km. I wanted to look after my injectors so I pured some injector cleaning additive into fuel tank. I think that after this my Dpf regeneration starts after 300km. The VGD DPF app acts wired as well. Calculated mass 17g, DPF filled in 77% and suddenly jumps to 100%, soot mass calculated jumps to 22g and regeneration starts. Any ideas? Oul ash residue was 0.21. Now is 0.22
Thanks

Those sudden jumps are usually symptoms of some sensor fail.
It's the common behavior of a DPF system with differential pressure fail, but it's not the only one possible reason.

The ECU has many internal checks to reduce the risk of fire, mainly timing and mileage checks. Moreover when a sensor o a part of the DPF system doesn't work as expected, the ECU works in a safe mode considering the worst case. This means that regenerations are anticipated considering the worst case of soot accumulation and probably it launches regenerations after a fixed time and/or mileage.

The jump to the 100% filling value is the method the ECU uses to force the regeneration.
I don't know if there is a link between those jumps and the injectors cleaning, but I can advise you to ask for a system check to an expert service.
